Chocolate Strawberry Angel Food Trifle…

So this weekend I went to visit my family in the “big” city.  Oh how I miss all the traffic (not so much), restaurants, shopping, and above all my family and friends.  I only went for the weekend so it was really hard to fit in my time with everyone.  But while there I did manage to convince my (non-cooking) sister to host a Pampered Chef show and try a couple of Pampered Chef recipes…the quesadilla cups and a revised version of the Chocolate Raspberry Cookie Trifle.  Instead of raspberries we opted for strawberries…and instead of vanilla wafers we had angel food cake.

Chocolate Strawberry Angel Food Trifle
1 cup milk
2 packages white chocolate instant pudding
1 container frozen whipped topping (thawed)
1 loaf angel food cake
1 cup milk chocolate morsels
1 jar seedless strawberry jam
1 bag frozen strawberries (not in syrup) (thawed)

In stainless mixing bowl combine milk and pudding mix; whisk until pudding mixture begins to thicken.  Fold half of whipped topping into pudding mixture.  Cover and refrigerate.
(This serves as proof that my sister was in the kitchen! and did make something while there! Ha!)

For ganache (I love ganache!!!), combine chocolate morsels, remaining whipped topping and half of jam in microwaveable bowl.  Microwave on high for 60 seconds, stirring after 30 seconds.  Stir until smooth  and chocolate is completely melted.

Place remaining jam into microwaveable bowl and microwave for 30-45 seconds.  Gently stir in thawed strawberries.

Cut angel food cake into cubes.

In trifle dish layer 1/3 of angel food cake, strawberry mixture, white chocolate pudding, and ganache.  Repeat for layer two and layer three.  Garnish with strawberry slices and/or a dallop of whipped topping.

Oh how heavenly this Chocolate-Strawberry Angel Food Cake Trifle was!!!
